Emily & Kyle Engagement Preview

Everyone’s getting married! Two of our closest friends who met at a dinner party Ranger and I threw in the summer of 2010 are getting married next Spring (see? a well executed dinner party is very important for so many reasons) and I had the privilege to shoot their engagement photos at Walnut Creek today. They turned out spectacular, I couldn’t be more pleased. And they have all kinds of lovely plans for their wedding, I can’t wait!
New Skills: Underwater Photography

So my good friend Helen wanted to try some underwater engagement photos and it took little convincing for me to give it a shot. I can say honestly it’s hard work for all parties involved but I couldn’t be happier with the way they turned out, especially for my very first shoot! It took some time for everyone to get comfortable with what works and what doesn’t and I definitely will be trying a few things next time that might help: namely a weight belt for me and a few inexpensive underwater lights.
The night shots turned out fantastic though the cloudiness obscured photos any further than 4-5 feet away. Perhaps next time I’ll rent a wide angle lens as well so I can be close to the action without losing the shot.
And a big thank you to Helen and Adam for being such patient models and to Kyle, Emily and my Ranger for the best support crew a girl could ask for!
